Beta News
News and updates about Saffronville can be found here.- Thu, 2013 Jun 27, 22:25 PDT: You can now copy meals from one day to another. This is done in the Meal Editor, with the "Copy" link at the upper right. Click it and a calendar widget will appear below it; click a day to copy the meal to that day.
Also fixed a login bug with Chrome; it should no longer display a white screen after logging in. - Thu, 2013 Jun 20, 21:27 PDT: Two changes:
- Fixed a bug where adding or importing a dish could leave you with the ability to add another dish with no name. (Dishes must have names!)
- The shopping list is now PRINTABLE! There's a little "Print" link up next to the "Show all" nav. For now, at least, only the single list is printable; we may add the daily list later.
- Thu, 2013 Jun 13, 22:19 PDT: A couple of bug fixes:
- The dish suggestion areas (in the "add meal" popup on the main page, and at the bottom of each meal's page) now sort their items in alphabetical order.
- The dish import tool now appends the ingredients it finds to the ingredient list, rather than overwriting what's there. It also does not clear the Name and Notes fields.
- Thu, 2013 May 30, 22:13 PDT: We've redone the header layout. It was just too big before, so now it's quite a bit more compact, which is nice. The nav bar also now highlights which section of the site you're in. We made a few other cosmetic changes as well.
- Wed, 2013 May 22, 22:46 PDT: Meal multipliers now work correctly. You can update them from the Meal Editor page for any meal, and they will correctly apply to ingredients listed in the Shopping List.
- Sun, 2013 Mar 24, 09:00 PDT: The Shopping List has been updated to add a new Day-by-day mode, which shows a miniature list of your upcoming meals. The idea behind this is that while it's convenient to see the combined list of everything you need to buy, sometimes it's also convenient to see just what you need to get for a given day. The old mode (called "Single" mode) is still the default. (Updating ingredient status in either Single or Days mode will update the other mode, too.)
We are planning to update the shopping list further so that it can show the ingredients you need for ALL future meals, not just for the current week. More details on that when it happens. - Sat, 2013 Mar 16, 11:22 PDT: Dish importing has been added! In the Dish Editor, you can now add a whole dish at once by pasting in a recipe. It will do its best to figure out which part is the ingredients list, and try to parse out the ingredients, so you don't have to type them all yourself. You may need to adjust the ingredients afterward, though, if it didn't recognize them all correctly. In the Create a new dish area, click the "import a recipe" link to get started.
Also, the ingredient/quantity fields in the Dish Editor have been reorganized, to give more room and remove redundant labels. - Sat, 2013 Feb 23, 09:06 PST: A bug was fixed with item naming so that global ingredients that were mis-capitalized are still recognized as the same ingredient (e.g. "romaine lettuce" is recognized as being the same as "Romaine lettuce").
- Mon, 2013 Feb 11, 19:19 PST: The Shopping List is now much smarter about combining ingredients together, and can add together units of various types in order to give a better summary of how much of a given unit you need. For example, if you have "garlic" in three different meals, with quantities of "3 Tbsp", "2 cloves", and "5 cloves", the shopping list will combine this to say "garlic 7 cloves + 3 Tbsp". The shopping list will also canonicalize unit names; in other words, if you have several of the same ingredient with quantities of "1 pound", "2 lb.", and "3 lbs", it will recognize "pound", "lb.", and "lbs" as representing the same unit.
- Mon, 2013 Feb 04, 06:55 PST: In the Dish Editor, the dish list in each category (entree, sides, etc.) is now scrollable.
- Sun, 2013 Feb 03, 15:15 PST: The "New Meal" popup in the Calendar has been changed. Specifically, when selecting a dish from the dropdown, it will immediately copy that dish to the "Dishes in this meal" section, instead of making you click again to add it.
